Using content strategy and service design to communicate the needs of people experiencing homelessness and their provider while creating a shared understanding. 

The Client

In 2017, the City of Austin's Innovation Office secured a grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies. Austin was selected from a pool of municipalities with a demonstrated commitment to designing and delivering bold solutions to solve homelessness. 

The Challenge

How can we create a shared understanding of the system that solves for homelessness?

​How can we help people who care and want to engage have additional ways to participate in helping to end homelessness?

How can we increase trust in the homeless community in service providers and build a support network for individuals experiencing homelessness?

The Approach

ENGAGING COMMUNITY

In order to solve the issue, we first needed to understand it. In Oct 2017, we launched Austin's first lived experience advisory group by engaging with individuals experiencing homelessness: Austin's Homelessness Advisory Committee
